God Has One More Word

What happens when we do everything right and still receive bad news? The story of Hezekiah in Isaiah 38 confronts us with one of the most uncomfortable truths of faith: righteousness does not exempt us from hardship. Hezekiah was a king who tore down the idols of his corrupt upbringing, restored worship, and held fast to God through decades of battle and leadership. Yet the prophet walked into his room and delivered a word that no faithful person wants to hear. What makes this story so powerful is not the bad news itself, but what Hezekiah did with it. He turned his face to the wall, away from people and toward God, and he prayed from the depths of his history with the Lord. He did not ask for deliverance. He simply asked God to remember. That single shift in posture and prayer changed everything. Before the prophet could even leave the palace, God had already reversed the word. This message speaks directly to those of us who have been praying faithfully and still find ourselves in difficult seasons, reminding us that the first word is not always the final word, and that God is moved by the honest, tear-filled prayers of those who refuse to let go.
